Sports psychiatry is a subspecialty focused on the diagnosis and treatment of mental health disorders in athletes in addition to performance optimization though psychotherapy. Sports psychiatrists are trained to understand and address the unique needs of athletic individuals and can provide expert-level care for those requiring medication management and/or therapy. Dr. Moley has completed the Certificate of Additional Training through the International Society for Sports Psychiatry.

Psychiatrists such as Dr. Moley are trained to complete holistic medical evaluations, prescribe medications, and offer psychotherapy services. They are required to earn a bachelor’s degree, medical degree, and complete four years of additional specialty-specific residency training to apply for a license to practice. Psychology is a field of study dedicated to mind and behavior, and psychologists are trained to diagnose and treat mental health conditions with psychotherapy. Their training requirements are variable and range from bachelor’s degrees, social work degrees, or doctoral degrees with clinical experience.

Dr. Moley specializes in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and psychodynamic therapy.

Dr. Moley is licensed to provide care for individuals ages 15+ located in Ohio. His physical office is located outside of Cleveland in Independence, Ohio, and he offers virtual appointments for those who are not able to come in person.
